For anyone that might have thought that the days of Hollywood sexual harassments were long gone, the past fortnight has been a true eye-opener on Hollywood’s long and ugly history of sexual harassment. A growing list of actresses and other women have been directing allegations of saddening sexual harassment and rape to the direction of powerful Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein.
More than 40 women including; Angelina Jolie, Cara Delevingne, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd and Kate Beckinsale have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment and rape. For more than three decades, most of these women bottled up because they were young, powerless and afraid that speaking out would have their careers ruined.
Believe it or not, Weinstein, who was once described as ‘God’ of the film industry, isn’t the only Tinsel Town sexual harasser. Honestly speaking, rape, sex crimes and brutalization of women are terrible crimes that shouldn’t be tolerated in the entertainment industry or anywhere else. For this reason, here’s a look at powerful men in the entertainment industry who had grabby hands and have been embroiled in filthy, disgraceful and unacceptable sex scandals.
25. Marilyn Monroe claims an “Overcrowded Brothel”
The legendary Marilyn Monroe is undoubtedly the most famous sex symbol to ever grace Hollywood. Her beauty and outgoing nature perhaps made her no stranger to the dirty sexual harassments by studio chiefs and filmmakers.
She didn’t hold back in her memoir, My Story when she wrote: “I did meet them all. Phoniness and failure were written all over them. Most of them were vicious and crooked. But they were as near to the movies as you could get. So you had to sit with them, listen to their lies and dirty schemes and you saw Hollywood through their eyes: it was an overcrowded brothel, a merry-go-round with a bed for horses.”
No wonder she admitted to her biographer Anthony Summers that she “spent a great deal of time on my knees.”
