4. Roman Polanski
This disgraceful case of award-winning film director, Roman Polanski began 40 years ago in 1977 when he allegedly had sex with a 13-year-old girl named Samantha Gailey at the home of actor Jack Nicholson in Hollywood. The little girl said she hadn’t consented to the sexual escapade, but the director wouldn’t take no for an answer. And even if she consented, having sex with an underage girl still amounted to a severe sexual offense.
Polanski was arrested and admitted to having unlawful sex with a minor. He would then spend 42 days in prison where he did have a psychiatric evaluation but was allowed to travel afterward. He took this leniency to flee to France before he could be sentenced. He’s never set foot in the U.S. and rarely leaves France for fear of being arrested. It’s very unfortunate that Polanski is still celebrated in Hollywood and even won an award for the movie The Pianist and hasn’t been stripped of the awards despite two other women coming forward with similar sex abuse stories.
