U.S. figure skater Mirai Nagasu made history when she landed a stunning triple axel on Monday during the team event at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang! Nagasu is the first American woman to ever complete the powerful triple axel in the Olympics!
Nagasu is only the seventh woman in history to successfully complete the triple axel, an arduous skating maneuver that requires immense strength, skill, and timing. She’s only the third American to land the jump in international competitions, following Tonya Harding in 1991 and Kimmie Meissner in 2005! Nagasu helped the U.S. claim the bronze medal in the women’s team event.
This is a stunning moment for Nagasu and a WOW moment for skating fans. Check out the video from NBC!
