#14 – Australian ghost shark

Image result

Sometimes alternatively called an elephant shark, elephant fish, plownose chimaera, or whitefish, the Australian ghostshark is found off southern Australia. This includes Tasmania and south of East Cape and Kaipara Harbour in New Zealand.

In Australia, this creature is exploited commercially, but they fetch a considerably lower price than the main targets – the gummy shark. In New Zealand, however, the Australian ghostshark is very well-received in fish-and-chip shops.
