#11 – Whale shark
The biggest confirmed whale shark measured 41.5 feet in length (12.65 m) and weighed around 47,000 pounds (21.5 tonnes). There are some unconfirmed cases of whale sharks being more than 46 feet (14 meters) long and weighing more than 66,000 pounds (30 tonnes).
These can be found in tropical oceans, normally the open waters, but is usually not found unless the water temperature is more than 22 °C (72 °F). Modelling techniques have suggested that whale sharks can live for 70 years, however, proving that has been difficult.
