#23 – Dinochelus ausubeli (lobster)
Rockefeller University’s Jesse Ausubel and colleagues found a new type of lobster in the deep waters near the Phillipines. It was named Dinochelus stemming from the Greek words ‘dino’ and ‘chelus’. Dino means terrible/fearful and chelus means claw. Ausubeli honors Jesse Ausubel’s name.
It’s different from the lobsters you’re used to seeing as its claws are longer and bear numerous long teeth on the inside.
