The official name of Kiribati is the Republic of Kiribati. Kiribati is an island country located in the Pacific Ocean. Kiribati is made out of 33 atolls and one raised coral island called Banaba. The total area of this island country is only 800 km2 making it the 186th largest country in the world. It is estimated that 103,500 people live in Kiribati. The capital city of this country is called Tarawa.

Despite its economy improving at a fast pace, Kiribati is still one of the poorest countries in the world. It will take about 5 more years for Kiribati to fully stabilize its economy. The GDP per capital of Kiribati is $1,592.
