#8 – Eritrea

Eritrea is officially known as the State of Eritrea. This country is located in the Horn of Africa. The area of Eritrea is 117,600 km2 which makes it the 101st largest country in the world. It has been estimated that around 6,300,000 people live in Eritrea. The capital city is called Asmara.

Eritrea belongs in the group of poorest countries of the world because it has a GDP per capita of only $771. The main factor that contributed to the economic problems and low GDP per capita is the Eritrean-Ethiopian War.
