Niger is also officially known as the Republic of Niger. Niger is located in the West African region and is another landlocked country. The area of Niger is 1,270,000 km2 which makes it the largest country of West Africa and the 22nd largest country in the world. According to its 2012 census, it has 17,138,717 people living in Niger. The capital city is called Niamey.

Niger is by far one of the poorest countries in Africa and in the world. Over two thirds of Niger’s population live below the poverty line. The GDP per capita of Niger is only $1,111.
