The Palace made the announcement early this morning, just as the happy couple arrived in Sydney for a Royal Tour of Australia and the South Pacific. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s announcement coincides neatly with their tour of Australia. It’s a great way to duck the press at home and raise the profile for Harry and Meghan’s philanthropic tour. Harry’s in Sydney to promote the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014. The Games provide an amazing venue for sick and injured military personnel and vets to have fun, raise awareness, and compete in sporting events.
Loyal subjects and well-wishers, i.e. “fans,” have been congratulating the couple on their big news all morning. According to royal sources, Harry and Meghan broke the news to the Royal Family at Princess Eugenie’s wedding (um, wedding faux pas?) and the royals are delighted for the expecting parents. Apparently, the Queen even teared up at the news.
Congratulations, Meghan and Harry.
