Burundi is a country that is officially known as the Republic of Burundi. Burundi is located in East Africa in the Great African Lakes region. It is a landlocked country. The area of Burundi is 27,834 km2. It has been estimated that around 11,100,000 people live in Burundi. The capital city is called Bujumbura.
Burundi is probably the poorest country in Africa considering that the GDP per capita of Burundi is only $287. The reason for the low GDP per capita and the disastrous situation of its economy are the constant wars and genocides that happen within the country.
